S-Roll Privacy

S-Roll is developed and published by Ritik Bompilwar. Saliency is the name I use for this work, not a separate company. This page explains what stays on your Mac, what account information is stored online, and why.

Your video work stays on your Mac

Videos, audio, transcripts, project names, clips, edits, captions, and chat conversations are processed and stored on your Mac. S-Roll does not upload them to me or to an S-Roll service. The local models analyze your work on your device, and I do not use your content to train models.

Account information

S-Roll requires sign-in with Google or Apple. When you sign in, I receive and store the account identifier created by Firebase, your name if the provider supplies it, your email address, and whether you used Google or Apple. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email feature, I receive Apple’s relay address instead of your personal address.

Basic product analytics

The account service records when your S-Roll account was created, the last time the app checked in online, the app version last seen, your plan, and whether access is active. I use this small set of data to count active users, understand which versions are in use, provide the right features, and prevent abuse. S-Roll does not report which videos you open, which tools you use, what you type in chat, which clips you make, or where you export them.

Why I use this information

• To sign you in and keep your account working.
• To apply your plan and access settings.
• To measure active accounts and version adoption.
• To investigate abuse, fraud, or security problems.
• To answer support messages you send.

I do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or build marketing profiles from it.

Services involved

Google or Apple handles the sign-in screen you choose. Firebase Authentication verifies the account, and Google Cloud stores the small S-Roll account record described above. Hugging Face serves the model files downloaded during setup. These providers may also receive ordinary connection information such as an IP address, device or browser type, the requested file, and a timestamp under their own privacy practices.

Support email

If you email ritik@saliency.dev, I receive your email address and anything you include in the message. I use it to respond and keep it as ordinary correspondence for as long as it is useful for support or record keeping. Do not attach private footage unless we have agreed that it is needed.

Retention and deletion

Account details and the activity fields above are kept while your account exists. You can delete the account from S-Roll’s Account page. That removes the S-Roll account record and the Firebase sign-in account, but it does not delete projects or clips on your Mac. If an account was blocked for abuse, I may retain a one-way hash of its email address so deleting and recreating the account cannot bypass the block. The original email address cannot be read back from that hash.

Data on your Mac

Projects, clips, settings, and downloaded models live in the app’s sandboxed container. Deleting a project removes its project files. Removing the app may leave its container behind, so you may also need to remove the S-Roll container from your Library folder if you want to erase all local data. Exported files remain wherever you saved them.

Adults only

S-Roll is only for adults aged 18 years or older. I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If I learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, I will delete the account and its online account data. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact me so I can remove it.
